Dear Community Member:

I am a nurse practitioner at River City Family Health (RCFH), a new local Missoula health clinic. The following statistics probably won't surprise you:

  • 68% of Americans are obese or overweight, and 16% of U.S. children are obese. Since 1980, obesity rates for adults have doubled and rates for children have tripled. % of Americans are obese (more than 30 pounds overweight)
  • The CDC estimates that by 2020 we will all be obese.

Now, if I told you that your business could help solve the obesity and overweight epidemic in Missoula, and that your business would benefit, would you be interested?

This is a community-wide problem, and as a health provider, I believe it can best be solved with community-wide support. I also realize that in order for that to work, everyone involved -- everyone -- must benefit. At RCFH we have come up with what we believe is a WIN-WIN-WIN solution. The Ten Percent Solution is a new program for managing weight for life offered by RCFH, created by and for Missoulians. It is completely different from other "weight loss" programs. Here's how:

Features of the Ten Percent Solution:

  1. It is based on what the medical literature tells us actually works to help folks keep weight off
  2. The goal is to LOSE TEN PERCENT and keep it off for at least one year
  3. Support - both monthly medical support and weekly support groups, which is the cornerstone of the program
  4. The monthly fee is affordable: $50.00
  5. Incentive #1: Once the client loses 10% of their body weight, their monthly fee to us is reduced by 10%.
  6. Incentive #2: This is where you come in: We want you to become a Community Ten Percent Solution Partner. Once the patient loses 10% of their body weight, you would agree to offer some product or service at 10% off.

    For example, we already have chiropractors, psychologists, physicians, ink recyclers, a florist, a hairdresser, a grocery store, a tree service, a clothing store, a gym and a dance studio signed up. We advertise their services in our client binders and on our website, www.rivercityfamilyhealth.com. We display their brochures or flyers. We encourage our clients to use their services. Some of the more valuable rewards (e.g. 10% off a set of tires) will only be available once the client has kept 10% off for a given time frame, for example six months. The Solution Partner decides whether the 10% incentive is be a one-time offer, or whether it is ongoing. Furthermore, the agreement is just that -- a simple agreement. (See enclosed example.) It is not legally binding, and you may withdraw at any time.
  7. The Ten Percent Solution is a WIN-WIN-WIN solution: The client wins, because they are healthier, and because their fees to us are offset by savings elsewhere. You win -- free advertising, new customers, including grateful friends and family members, who will buy additional products or services. RCFH wins, because we build a successful program, accomplish our mission, build our business, and help more people.
